Kent Chamber of Commerce – Jonathon Marsh of Google UK

On 9th Feb the Kent Chamber of Commerce hosted a presentation and networking breakfast with special guest Jonathon Marsh of Google UK at Bridgewood Manor, Rochester. Organised efficiently as always by Louisa Felstead. Presenting on some of the finer points of Google products, apps and of course SEO and Google analytics. It was a good event – Jonathon presented on google products and services and answered questions well. As is generally the case a good event followed by some card sharing and the English breakfast was good too!”.

One man.. One goal.. One vision..

“The vision is absolutely key to getting your troops together. It has to be qualitative, daring and grab the imagination. The test of it should be how quickly people will latch on to where you are going; you can entrust them with the how. You only get a company going where you want it to go by leadership by example and by honest and endless communication. Everyone in the business has to buy into your vision.”
Sir John Harvey-Jones

Great words from a great man who knew so well the concept of leadership.

I have recently been asked to provide an example of a piece of music that inspired me in business or management. There are so many I could choose from but one in particular stands out for me. Queen – “One Vision” In my not so recent past I was heading up a company in London. We had a considerable middle management team and it was not unusual to fill around fifteen seats. There lies the problem. Many heads, many opinions. We needed a vision to help focus the team and encourage them to work towards that common goal this only achievable through teamwork and leadership.

I set about using Queens track as an intro to some of our meetings and integrated the audio into some Powerpoint presentations. It did a lot for the team and the track was often positively referred too. We achieved what we set out to do.

One Vision is an excellent track from Queen and a timely reminder of the passing of that great showman Freddy Mercury now twenty years ago.

Enjoy the video and blast from the past – it may inspire you to achieve that “One Vision”.

The robots are legless

I have to admit that even with my interest in technology and the future I did’nt see this one coming and what a blinding concept. You’ll have to see the video yourself but I think you’ll agree it opens up so many opportunities it really is quite exciting.

There are limits to its use for example due to the working terrain but then just consider the fact that until only very recently even the Daleks could’nt go upstairs and they’ve solved that one too!

Anyway check this out and I’ll leave you to just visualize the possibilities.
